(semi) back

I’ve spent ten days in Mallorca for our family summer holiday. Traveling with three small kids isn’t always easy and so it took a day or two to put the exhaustion from the previous weeks aside and regain my usual amount of patience. But it was great to spend some quality time with my fantastic family.

The next week, I’m actually still in holiday mode but a few assignments managed to creep in the planning anyway. I’m probably not going to have time to process my holiday pics soon, but I’ve picked out a few for a preview.

Kobe and Maya have been flying before, but it was so long ago that it all appeared like new. At the airport they even found a machine to practice their surfing skills.

My wife and (especially) me aren’t fans of these club hotels but we choose to go for an all-in formula anyway. And that was probably for the best too. It allowed us to give all our attention to the kids.

Kobe and Maya really enjoyed having a beach, a couple of pools, a playground and a few restaurants nearby. French (although they are a Belgian invention) fries and ice cream as much as they could eat, offered an important added value.

The Mediterranean has attracted me since I watched Cousteau documentaries as a five year old boy. I’ve seen more ‘paradisy’ and richer oceans but I can’t help but feeling shivers down my spine every time I’m at the Med.

Noa always finds it difficult to adapt to new surroundings and it wasn’t different this time. It was quite a relief every time we could convince her that it isn’t that exceptional for babies to sleep once in a while.

The rest of the pics will follow later. This week I’ll get up and running again, but I’ll also take some time off. My mailbox has been under fierce attacks but those who are waiting for a reply will get it … eventually.

I really like your photography style.
I am not even yet an amateur photographer but hope to become one, none the less I can appreciate a good photography when I see it. I’ve just purchased a Nikon D200. I ran into your videos searching on youtube. But I want to thank you, because through your site I got to MediaStorm (I hadnĀ“t known it till now).
I’ve traveled quite a bit though South America, (I’m Argentine but currently live in the US) but now I am hoping to go to Cuba for a visit. It will be really interesting to see Cuba (my mother’s home land) for the first time. And specially now because of all of the transitions the country is facing. I hope by then I will have gotten the hang a bit better of what my camera will do.
I would really appreciate if you could recommend a general purpose lens that would fit my nikon. Still, even if you don’t respond it has been a really big pleasure for me to run into your work.
    Cheers,
    Mike
