Fields of Joy

Last weekend Kobe said he wanted to go geocaching. Kobe and I used to go geocaching pretty often but lately we haven’t done much of it. One of the reasons for that was that we did most of the interesting ones in the neighborhood but a quick look on the internet revealed some interesting new treasures to be found.

So Maya, Kobe and I set off for a walk in the foggy fields close to our new house. And I was so amazed about how beautiful this area is. We live only like 6 kilometers from our old house but I never knew these fields are so nice to walk or bike. One thing I really missed when we lived in our old house was some breathing space around me. I often go for a short walk at night. It helps to clear my mind but this kind of therapy doesn’t work very well in a busy environment for me. I guess I will have a much clearer mind here ;-)

We couldn’t proceed to the geocache because of the pretty bad geocaching app on the iPhone (and my handheld gps must still be in one of the moving boxes) but we couldn’t care less. Kobe and Maya enjoyed running in frozen tractor tracks and I just enjoyed them and the landscape.

I just took some snaps with my compact cam but even though I’m not much of a landscape photographer, I plan to return soon with some more gear and a tripod.

We’ve only been away for a few hours but I was so relaxed when we got back home. My quest for 2009 and the rest of my life is to enjoy more of these small moments.

    Bert –

I love geocaching out here in New York with my 3yo son — we’re just shy of 100 caches and have been actively caching since late December 2007 – just over a year, now.

    What cache were you hunting?

    My best,
    Mike

Great set of pictures Bert, the landscape takes on a completely different look in the winter.

    But what is geocaching?
