It’s Here – My New Site – Yihaa!!!
After months of hard work and above all a lot of thinking (that really hurts) and changing my mind over and over again, it’s here … my new website. Almost three months ago, I wrote: “my website sucks” and it did … big time. So I’m really happy to announce the birth of my first real site and I would like to thank all of you for your input. It helped me a lot on deciding which way to go.
The biggest thank you should go to Sille who designed and programmed the site from the ground up on the Wordpress platform. The new logo was made by Shiva. Both had to be very patient with me, but did incredibly well.
I’m aware that there are still some minor bugs and typos in there. And I would certainly appreciate your input and remarks on the design, usability, navigation, … I’ll be taking some time off but when I get back into the working mood, we’ll examine all the input and make the site even better. Ideally a website should be a living thing to me and I think I have now a sturdy platform from which I can keep growing the site.
During the whole process of building the site, I’ve learned a lot and I will share it with you in a couple of weeks.
One of my main concerns for the new site was to show the pictures big. After all, taking pictures is what I do. You will have noticed that the blog design also has been changed to allow for way bigger pictures. There’s still a lot of unfinished pictures on my hard drive that aren’t ready to be shown. So to test out the bigger pictures, I’ve just put up some impressions of Oslo on a soaking wet day (the day before the Oslo workshop).

Nice site, navigation is fast and easy. Maybe some better fonts for the type would be good. Also your name/logo doesn’t stand out enough IMO.
I’d like to see a bit more colour, but a lot of photographers seem to like the clinical look, so what do I know? This site is cool: http://www.colourlovers.com/
I like it. It seems you’ve taken the Chase Jarvis approach of putting out there the type of photos you would like to be taking and not exactly the type of photos you make your earning on. I’m interested to hear how that effects your clients coming in for family portraits and corporate pictures, but it is certainly a bold and strong artistic step.

Nice clean look, the big pictures are great. I do think the text could do with a bit of an indent on the left side but other than that I really like it. Looking forward to seeing more pictures.
Hey Bert, I like the design of the new site. Can’t wait to hear your experience in designing and building it. As a photographer new to the money-making aspects of photography, I’m interested to read what you have to say.
Specifically, I like how fast the site loads; it did not test my patience, or lack there-of, in any way. I like the way the site is organized. The Galleries are nice and I like how big the pictures display themselves – and again, they don’t take a lot of time to load!!

Great Site Bert. This looks much better in Firefox than IE(that’s what I have at work, don’t tell my boss) The bigger Pictures, the better! Keep them coming!
Portfolio section works well. I like the side-scroller better, and it saves my preference. nice touch!

Site looks nice, but the flush left type is hard to read, at least on my version of Firefox. And a bit larger type could be nice for those of us with older eyes.

Excellent job on the work you have done both on the web and with your photography. It certainly helps any professional to revamp their website and, indeed, this is especially true in the world of photography.
