Lut on Film

You’ve already seen the digital shots of my improvised test shoot with Lut. The main goal of this shoot was to test my new lights and modifiers. For that kind of stuff, the instant feedback of digital is certainly very convenient. But I couldn’t resist quickly shooting a couple of rolls of film with the Hasselblad. The pictures didn’t completely came out like I hoped for, but hey, that’s what test shoots are for.

    Bert,

I think they look good though maybe a bit on the hot side. Number 1 is really nice with that framing. Number 2 and 4 look a bit dull in the tones and number 3 is very nice though I would probably have put a bit less light on her face. I do think the tones look much better compared to the digi. What don’t you like about them?

Which kind of rolls of film did you use ?

@Wilhelm: I played around with over exposing the film a bit (too much). And I learned that shooting film with studioflash isn’t the same as with natural light. With continuous light, I’m starting to be able to predict how it will look but I’ll need lots of testrolls before I can do the same with flash. I just feel that they could be a lot better with some more experience and practice.

@Glen: I think (don’t have the negatives here) most of them are shot on HP5 plus and maybe one or two on Porta 400NC and converted to BW (because I really didn’t like the color.
