A Dutch Angle
Back in May, Kim finally received her new bike, her first gravel/adventure bike. After a couple of rides around the house, it was time to test it in a bikepacking scenario. Because we had some business in the Netherlands we decided to combine it with a short trip on the gravel tracks near Utrecht.
We had planned a pretty ambitious trip for the summer (more about that one in a future blog post), so it made sense to test out our setup, and particularly Kim’s new rig. The area around Utrecht had been on my radar for a while and it looked like a perfect fit for Kim’s bike maiden voyage: mostly smooth gravel, very little climbing and never far away from civilisation.
Within the first kilometer the rear rack of Kim’s bike fell off (my fault for not checking that one crucial bolt) but it was easily fixed and after that it was smooth sailing from then one.
This was a short but enjoyable trip and gave us confidence for our summer plans. For the cyclists who want to ride this route, check it out on Komoot.
