My First Solo Exhibition in Belgium
I’ve never really explored the idea of doing an exhibition. Some of my pictures have been part of exhibitions but I’ve only really had one (sort of) solo show in Romania a couple of years ago. Last weekend I decided to change that, ordered prints of 12 of my lockdown pictures and set up an improvised exhibition in our street.
We all want the best and biggest fine art prints, hung in the best gallery with perfect lighting. But that wasn’t going to happen this time. I’ve decided to make it happen on a shoestring budget with what we have. The prints are cheap A4-size prints from an online lab. We’ve laminated them with a simple office machine. And we hung them on a board that was waiting to be brought to the recycling center.
It isn’t about perfection, it’s about sharing my work and giving the people who walk past the house a touch of art.
The exhibition is out on the street for a couple of days now and we’ve had some really nice reactions. People take the time to look at the pictures, talk about them and sometimes write something in the guest book. That’s all that is needed to make it worth it for me.
Maybe you can do something similar?
